The 25 Greatest Tag Teams of All Time part 2

Ok, now that the Honorable Mention is out of the way lets dive into the list proper. Now, for those of you worried that this is going to go for 25 post don't worry, I'm not that sadistic. However I do feel that each team needs enough space to truly show why I picked them and placed them where I did, with that said it may end up being 3 teams per page with a final page dedicated to the number 1 team. Ok, enough wasting time. Lets get to the list...

#25 The World's Greatest Tag Team

Being introduced to the world as Team Angle, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin were in a sink or swim situation. On one hand they were thrust into the wrestling spotlight as backup for the WWE World Champion Kurt Angle and immediately began feuding with Chris Benoit and Edge, beating them to become number one contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championship. They parlayed this opportunity into a title win against Los Guerreros cementing their future on list such as this one. They would lose then regain the titles one time before leaving WWE and heading to ROH were they captured the ROH tag titles. In addition to these championship wins they were also the PWI Tag Team of the year in 2003, no small feat when you consider the amount of active teams at the time.

If this was a list of technically sound tag teams, or teams having the greatest wrestling ability then The World's Greatest Tag Team would be much higher, however this list is not based on those things so the 25th spot is where they fall based on their lackluster impact on the sport and small legacy. They are a team that is fondly remembered and many wrestling fans consider them one of the greatest teams around which helped them make this list. Perhaps they will be more appreciated after a significant time has passed, but as of now they just squeak on to this list.

#24 America's Most Wanted

America's Most Wanted are six time NWA-TNA tag team champions, 1 time FEW Tag Team Champions, 1 time NWA Cyberspace Tag Team Champions, PWI's tag team of the year in 2004, and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter tag team of the year for 2005. Those accomplishments alone would put them on many a greatest tag team list, however the real reason they are on this list is they almost single handily put the TNA tag team division on the map.

Engaging in feuds with the likes of Team 3-D, 3 Live Kru, and Triple X, America's Most Wanted were tag team wrestling in the early days of TNA and one of the few reasons to order a TNA PPV. Despite being a great team TNA forced them to split and Chris Harris floundered on the singles scene until he became all but forgotten. Like the previous team on the list, America's Most Wanted may jump a few spots higher given more time to become nostalgic or they may be completely forgotten after the eventual folding of TNA.
#23 Los Guerreros

A two time WWE Tag Team Championship team, Los Guerreros started off as a on again off again team in WCW, where Uncle Eddy bullied and harassed his younger cousin. These antics would later be used by both members of Los Guerreros to lie, cheat, and steal their way to wins in the WWE. This is the very reason they are on this list, despite the fact that they are both very good wrestlers in the own right. You would be hard pressed to find an independent wrestling show in 2002 -2003 that didn't have one team or wrestler try the chair toss/phony knock out tactic Los Guerreros made famous.

Many fans point out the fact that Eddy died so early into his WWE career as the fact that they didn't win as many titles as they deserved to and this lost legacy is another reason they made the list. Los Guerreros are one of the few teams that people remember almost as much for what they could become then what they actually were. Had Eddy lived I could see this team going on to help mold future tag team during the end of their careers, much like Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton are doing now.

The 25 Greatest Tag Teams of All Time part 1

For those who don't know, I am a huge wrestling fan. When I am not watching wrestling I am either listening to a wrestling related podcast or playing a game of Total Extreme Wrestling. Now the only thing better than two men facing off against one another in the ring is to double things up and make it a tag team match! With that said, I am going to list the 25 Greatest Tag Teams of All Time! Now bear in mind most of this is my own opinion. Things like championships, headlining shows, and significant wins will be a factor but they will not be the ultimate deciding factor. Instead, the impact a team had on the era they wrestled in, the legacy they left behind, and the fondness they are remembered with shall be more import to this list. Another thing to note is this list will be kayfabe, so wrestling skill or lack thereof will not be a factor in placement on this list. Also, there will be a lot more older tag teams on this list as most of the modern teams have yet to make a legacy or leave any kind of impact on the sport. On a related note, any team that was not together for at least a year will not be included on this list. I am also more familiar with mainstream wrestling than I am with smaller promotions so there may not be as many ROH or CHIKARA teams as you may like on this list. Lastly, please be aware that I am not as familiar with wrestling outside of the US as I am with wrestling inside the US, so there may be a lack of foreign teams on this list. With that said, allow me to start off with the honorable mentions first.

Honorable Mention

The Mulkey Brothers: The Mulkeys, Bill and Randy, went on to have one of the longest documented losing streaks in the history of wrestling. A staggering 180 losses without achieving a single victory.
They became the epitome of the term underdog and fans clamored for a Mulkey Brothers victory. Eventually the Mulkeys did the impossible and won a match gaining entrance into the 1987 Crockett Cup!! Mulkey-Mania was in full swing, even if they never won another match. Despite being nothing more than a pair of jobbers the Mulkey Brothers were well respected by both the fans and their fellow wrestlers alike. In fact, to this day the Mulkeys are fondly remembered by southern wrestling fans, with many parents telling their legend to their children, keeping Mulkey-Mania alive to this day.

Characters Who Should Appear On Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Part 1: The Swordsman

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already been used to introduce several classic Marvel Comics characters such as Deathlok, The Absorbing Man, and Blizzard and I feel like there are several more characters who would fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe quite nicely. Unless you clicked on this article without actually reading the title then you know the first of these characters is none other than The Swordsman. Now, their have been several men who have used the Swordsman identity over the years but I am speaking about the original Swordsman, Jacques Duquesne. Before I tell you how he would fit into both Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe allow me to briefly sum up his history.

Jacques Duquesne was born to a wealthy French family in the French occupied fictional Southeast Asian nation of Sin-Cong. Unlike his father and other French people living in Sin-Cong Jacques held no prejudice against the native people and was asked to join a communist rebellion against the French after openly helping his Asian servant. Jacques was given a costume and, in his mind, became the freedom fighter The Swordsman. However, after helping overthrow French rule his father was murdered by the rebellions leader Wong Chu. Wong Chu insulted Jacques for siding with people who hated him and soon Jacques left Southeast Asia a broken man. Jacques Duquesne began to show up at various circuses and carnivals under the Swordsman name performing tricks with swords, daggers, and various other bladed weapons. The Swordsman eventually ended up the star performer at the Carson Carnival of Traveling Wonders, however he was far from wealthy as he had descended into both gambling and drunkenness. It is at this point that The Swordsman took a young runaway by the name of Clint Barton under his wing. Barton would go on to become the Avenger Hawkeye and the greatest enemy of The Swordsman.  Eventually The Swordsman was busted stealing money from the carnival promoter by none other than Clint Barton, however years later it would be revealed the promoter was cheating Jacques of money owed to him. The Swordsman would float around as a sword for hire for years before becoming an agent of The Mandarin. It was the Mandarin who would build the Swordsman's sword from alien technology. The Swordsman would then join the Avengers while secretly working for Mandarin and come to find he liked being a hero, although circumstances would force him back into villainy. Swordsman would straddle the fence between hero and villain for years before sacrificing his life to save the life of fellow Avenger Mantis.

The Swordsman would fit perfectly into Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. Using The Swordsman on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would allow a peak into the past of Hawkeye without actually needing Jeremy Renner to make an appearance on the show. This tease of Hawkeye's past would also lead to greater interest in one of the "lesser" Avengers.  The Swordsman connection to The Mandarin would allow more insight into the actual Mandarin, the real Mandarin was only hinted at in the Marvel one shot movie All Hail the King, and allow this character to get more backstory and set him up for a debut in Iron Man 4! Lastly, as a villain with realistic powers and a technology based weapon it would give all the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a chance to shine as Agent May could face him one on one while Fitz and Simmons try to either duplicate or disable The Swordsman's sword. A Swordsman appearance would also show how good intentions and idealism can go wrong, helping to shed some light and maybe a little sympathy on Ward's situation.

Well, that puts an end to part 1 of Characters Who Should Appear On Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Although I have quite a few characters already in mind for this ongoing series of post I am always open to suggestions from anyone who reads this, so feel free to comment.
